This location is a favourite place for our Group. You never know what you are going to find. This plein air location is on Crown Lands, an important ecological link between Lake Muskoka and Severn River.

Be prepared for undisturbed series of bedrock interspersed with wetlands and treed uplands. Habitat for close to five hundred species of flowering plants, about one hundred and fifty species of birds, and numerous mammals, reptiles and amphibians.

Getting there: From Muskoka Road (Hwy 169) near Torrance in between Bala and Gravenhurst, turn onto the Southwood Road (The Cottage Restaurant/Clear Lake Brewing Company is on the corner) These two establishments mark the entry to the Southwood road. Stay on Southwood road for around 10-15 minutes, turning left at the second train-track crossing. After the left-turn, drive for another 5 minutes until you reach a parking lot on the left. Once in parking lot, take a short walk south on trails. No BPAG signs will be visible at this location in accordance with use guidelines.

What to Bring: Good idea to wear hiking shoes – trails are rocky and bumpy. Dress in layers for the weather. There are no amenities whatsoever beyond the portable washrooms. Bring in your snacks, water etc and take your garbage out with you.
